kenmore side by side refrigerator/Freezer
I have a kenmore side by side refrigerator freezer
freezer works fine holds temperature
refrigerator does not
found duct or tube feeding refrigerator frosted shut-dethawed it-good airflow as long as freezer door open -no air flow when freezer door shut? could evap fan be weak>its located in freezer and when i remove panel its running

there are one or two return ports from the refrigerator to the freeze that are also frosted closed.

is the defrost heater good? is the defrost timer advancing properly? how old is this? does it use a mechanical defrost timer or is it electronic controls?

Check the supply and return ducts from the freezer. It also could be the defrost timer or thermostat. The defrost timer and stat are usually relatively inexpensive parts so best to change both.

is the evaporator frozen up or just frost in the ductwork?

frost on bottom of evaporator thats it coil not frosted

Bad door gasket or the door was left open for a long time

Is it a whirlpool or is it after sears got cheaper? Some manufacturers had issues with full defrosting all the drains and such under certain conditions during the defrost cycle and usually had a retrofit kit to help heat those parts better.

it is a old kenmore unit

but who made it for sears? the source code, the first 3 digits of the model number will tell you. whirlpool is if i remember 110, 106, and a couple others.
