Adding tankless coil to Peerless Boiler

I am wondering how to remove the plate on my Peerless WBV -04 hot water boiler without the tankless coil in it. I am limited on space and need to remove my indirect tank due to leak.Oil burner only. While viewing the existing plate without removing the boiler cover I don't see bolts or screws. Can it removed so I can install a tankless coil and would a 5gpm be sufficient for a home with 3 people, 2 showers, one bathtub, washing machine and dishwasher. Location NJ.

Also, I cannot remove obsolete tank but will leave in position until I rip some walls down.

Posting some picture would be a big help to us. There has to be bolts on the cover plate. You would have to install the tankless coil and connect it and most likely install a new operating aqustat.

As far as hot water capacity goes the tankless will not come close to what the indirect did. You can "get by with it" but you would have to use the how water carefully

removing the plate after decades could be a can of worms. might want to think hard about cutting an access panel in the boiler room. you could also possibly replace it with multiple indirect tanks or some other shapes of indirect tanks, there is probably something that would fit. A~120,000 btu boiler isn't going to make 5 gpm of hot water unless you have relatively warm incoming water. the old tank could be cut up to remove it.

@Arcticcat, you're talking about the round plate on the front where the aquastat control is mounted? And you dont see the bolts? Can you posts some pictures?

Also, what model aquastat is there? It might be a High Limit only aquastat, which is not compatible with a tankless coil.

also note that the indirect doesn't have to be next to the boiler if you have space somewhere else.

Are you original owner to the indirect? limited lifetime warranty on some of those indirects.

If you do this, your fuel consumption will probably increase by 30-50% since the boiler will have to remain hot constantly (even in the summer) to heat the domestic coil.

Replace the indirect is the best option.

As advised through the comments…I will remove two walls and remove old tank and replace with new…just deciding as mattmia2 suggested…maybe install a seperate tank for upstairs bathroom and can get away with a smaller tank downstairs giving me room to work with. When I get the chance will send photo.
