I had that drain connection on a double sink in my mother's house (mid 1940's).

The sink seemed to be concrete with metal upper protective trim and a washboard built into one of the sloped walls. Very handy with wringer washer and quite durable.

When redoing plumbing I knew to not touch it.

    We moved away instead.😊

Are the studs that hold it on still viable? At least the single version is just held on with studs and nuts like a disposal outlet. Could use 2 singles and a tee too.

I still have the same one as a single. Only had to replace the lead drain about 20 years ago.

I had to ream out the drain holes to get the strainers through. They came through a little cockeyed, but all good no leaks...gotta love the tight pattern of copper DWV fittings. They weren't even that expensive...we got em off supplyhouse.com.

Saved this 100 yr old Beauty for another hundred years...Mad Dog

He had a few plumbers quote him big #s to crack it up, replace with a E.L Mustee PVC SS. All good all around. Mad Dog

we're ignoring the backflow prevention here?

it uses a standard strainer rather than one that is cast in to the concrete? I was thinking you could probably chip out the drain area and mold a new one with concrete/mortar made with epoxy instead of cement.

but even with a retrofit of the drain and adding backflow prevention that is far better than one of those plastic tubs bouncing all over the floor while you work.

could mount a faucet above with a vacuum breaker and remote spout in the holes in the tub. look at lab faucet parts.

Ha ha...nope. this what I classify as an an "Antique repair." (such as an old clawfoot tube with the spout below the flood level rim....not going to IXNAY the Old Gem trying to bring it up to 2024 ICC) home has a backflow preventer anyway. Folks dont always have the $$$ to do everything we wanna do. Mad Dog
