Sometimes something good happens

I have been selling some tools on FB for $.10 on the $ LOL.

One thing I listed was a tool pouch with about 30 tools for $25. No bites at first then "Rocco" responded a real wise guy with a Worcester cell phone # (50 miles away). Made a couple of wise comments and said he was "workin at da Town Hall and could I drop them off". Out of curiosity I asked "what Town hall". He never responded and I wasn't about to deliver anything.

Then I had an 18 year old kid who wanted to come over and buy them. Said he was in the Voc Tech school in the Electrical program.

I said come over and get them there yours for free. I went downstairs and got the bucket and threw a half dozen xtras in there, folding ruler , jack knife, non contact voltage tester etc.

Nice kid. Made me happy😊

It took me decades to learn why sometimes i wanted to use a folding rule instead of a tape.

This is good! Maybe the 18 year old needs a mentor, or someone to help him think through things. 😉😉Hopefully he never adopts the attitude Rocco carries around.

For precise pipe fitting, especially larger diameter screw pipe, I greatly prefer a Lufkin Stick Rule. Mad Dog

    A win in the end.

Many of the FB Marketplace shoppers want to dicker, argue, or don't show up when they tell you. People with nothing to do all day, I suppose.

Me too. I went through a few of those just by learning to open it without breaking it. I like the one with the little metal slide extension.

A little Vaseline in the brass joints keeps the Lufkin Stick Rule nice and loose like a switch blade. Mad Dog

Yeah its a Lufkin X46 red end is the 6 footer. They used to make an 8' version don't know if they still do.

When I started that was all we used.

Some people are really good with tape measures, me since I used the stick rulers all the time I never really got good with a tape measure even though I still have about 10 of them. (tool hoarder)

My old boss would only use a Lufkin 6 footer.

I bought an 8 foot version once. He picked it up , looked at it and sniffed at me, " no good Ed, it's too big it doesn't fit in your hand"

I used it a lot for measuring inside lengths when I was building my kitchen cabinets. The Stanley FatMax tapes are stiff enough they will do a lot of things a folding rule will.
