SHINCO mini split advice

I’m getting an E2 code “pipe sensor faulty” on my 18,000 btu Shinco mini split AC/heat pump. I tested the sensor 0 ohms. I tried to contact Shinco and the phone number has been taken over by Seville. Shinco seems to be out of the mini split AC business although they are still selling room AC units online. I emailed both companies and received no reply from either. I purchased a sensor described as “for Shinco 10k” on EBay for $10, it had a different connector but tested 12.5 ohms and looked exactly the same as the original. I have no idea if it’s the correct sensor. I spliced it onto the old connector and installed it. The unit will blow both ice cold and hot but still works inconsistently, starting and stopping,

as before putting in the EBay sensor. I’m still getting E2 code. I had a HVAC company out to look at it. They don’t seem to want to do anything but replace the unit.

    Check the program , you may have to remove the code manual … Not sure about your make . A thermistor is rated resister , If you installed the same resistance , you should be good …

    When I'm called out on these online units i also turn the job down. Zero tech support, parts are impossible to find it generally turns into a loose loose situation.

    Spend a little extra $ and stick with equipment that is supported.

    Not sure on that unit but many have more than 1 thermistor. They often have one on each line, the indoor coil, the outdoor coil, and ambient sensors for indoor air temp and outdoor temp. Make sure it's not one of these just worded wrong. Could likely be a bad board with a glitchy plug socket, possibilities are endless with these things

    I’m back because we had an 80 degrees day and my Shinco mini split is still giving me E2 error “faulty indoor pipe sensor.” I have not been able to get any tech support from Shinco. I don’t have any part number for the indoor pipe sensor. I did recently find a “table” for the sensor searching online. Can someone please tell me what sensor I need?

    An additional note on the original sensor it did nothing when tested on ohmmeter.

    Unfortunately this is the risk one takes with these cheap Chinese knockoff brands. There’s no support on the backend and nobody knows a thing about them. Your best bet is to try and find a Senville support number. Is the unit still under any type of warranty?

    "R(0)=188.1K±4% ; B(0/15)3877K±3%" describes the temperature response characteristics of the thermistor you need. Unfortunately, it's not a common type that I'm aware of.

    If you can't get the correct part ordered, I think I'd spend a quiet evening looking up whatever thermistors I could find for other mini splits & checking the values against your table. As I understand it, there's only a few mfgrs of mini splits, perhaps you will be able to find a match.

    Thanks, I already tried Seville. There’s no warranty it’s 10 years old. It’s in perfect condition, not dusty,

    very clean and looks new. I ordered a few sensors off of Amazon about $50 worth. I will check them with the ohmmeter and see if I get lucky. Amazon has free returns so worth a try.

    I found the service manual online. That is where the thermistor chart was. They have a parts diagram, the part #eb11166 is worthless because Shinco no longer is in the mini split business. There are room air conditioners sold under Shinco name.

    See if you can find a service manual for one of their window shakers. Perhaps they reused old tech.

    BTW, those numbers mean that the resistance at 0°C is 188.1K and the β (beta) is 3877 (between 0-15°C). The tolerance is immaterial. That works out to ≈57.2K at 25° C (according to AI), so keep an eye out for either of those numbers, as 0°C (32°F) and 25°C (77°F) are both common points.

    I believe I have found the correct pipe sensor that I need for my unit. I put in the make and model and asked Ai. The answer is in the attachment. Ok, so where do I buy that sensor?
