Flex Joint?

Has anyone used a flex joint to isolate boiler vibration from the mains and returns? Something like this:

Vibration from the boiler? Eh? The boiler is vibrating?

Last I looked, the boiler is usually pretty hefty. It's also usually pretty solidly set, if not actually anchored, to a pretty solid pad of some kind.

I can't think of a situation where a boiler should or would vibrate…

So? What is the problem you are trying to address?

I have used them with large circulators mounted adjacent to boilers. They certainly do the job and are also good for when pumps are slightly miss-alighned to the piping.

If it only vibrates when the thing spins, you're looking at the washing machine.

Aye,,,, I've used them too — but for the pump vibration, not a boiler vibration.

The whole "boiler vibrating" thing gives me the willies. 😲

Maybe some industrial boiler with a power burner. Otherwise the vibration is coming from the circulator.

Not vibration but noise resonating through the pipes. Most noise seems to come from the motor in the oil burner.

If it seems to be coming from the oil burner, you may very well be right — but it may not be the boiler transmitting the noise. It is not at all uncommon for the oil supply pipe to be the villain, if it is strapped tightly to either a pipe or to a bit of house structure. Even one place where someone got enthusiastic and strapped it down can do it. Try loosening anywhere that the oil line or lines are in contact with things and slipping something like a piece of rubber around the oil line and whatever ties it down.
