Haier Mini Split

I have a mini split that doesn't seem to heat very well. The airflow seems fine but the thing discharges warm air— Or at least not as warm as the other one installed in the building.

I checked the outdoor and indoor units for dirt in the filters. Nothing seems to be obstructing the airflow.

What's up? The outdoor temp has been 24-42 deg. and the thing doesn't seem to be doing what it should.

The user said that they had shut the thing off and turned it back on. I believe that is a no-no.

What else could cause this discomfort?

    Low refrigerant charge…a leak.

Compressor cycling on OL or HP or LP

    Leaking change over valve

    Really any number of things.

Wouldn't those issues also affect the one that is working properly? They are hooked up to the same condenser unit.

    Bad EEV

    Bad Controller

    Bad Thermistor

The length of the lineset could be effecting the output, or maybe an oil trap in the lineset is interfering with the refrigerant flow. Did it ever heat like the others?

Is there any kind of diagnostic software available? I can plug in to lots of Mitsubishis with their service tool and see pretty much everything (temps, EEV position, compressor frequency).

Hmm. A good point, something I suspected. This is the second season with this unit but the first time with occupants. The length is under the suggested limit but is a bit long. The other does have a very short run. The short run is about twenty feet. The one in question is within a sixty-foot range. max length is supposed to be sixty-seven feet.

I'm using a Haier ( Now the GEeneral Electric Co. ) Mod. 2U20EH2YHA Ductless Multi-Zone with High Wall Indoor Units. Just the two units.

Diagnosis software? I do not know.

Any further thoughts will be much appreciated.

With minis a call to tech support is needed. They will ask if the charge has been pulled and weighed.

Multi split with weird operation is almost always a low refrigerant issue. Check this before doing any other troubleshooting.

It seems I was sent to the wrong one. This is what I found when given the correct info. Gee, you think this simple cleaning would have done it, and that is exactly what I did. The thing is working great now. I was a bit upset that it wasn't working from the info given. Just another lesson learned. Get the correct info and go to the easiest, simplest outcome first.

Thanks to all for your input.
