Charged x amount to install 6 radiators, fair?

I was charged x amount to install 6 steam radiators. All radiators needed the valves and spuds replaced, and all but one set were new. Additionally a new long section of a pipe and union were added to spin a t. Many spuds and valves were fused and needed cutting. Took 7 hours to do the job. I worked with him all day to try and speed things along. Was charged by the hour.

Is this a fair price? I paid him, he did a great job, but a part of me feels like maybe I paid too much im in NJ

Edit: removed amt due to policy

be sure to recommend his to your friends and associates. That’s the best form of thanks (other than paying your bill on time 😎)

I don't think the OP will be able to remove it from the title without @Erin Holohan Haskell 's help

Titles are as editable as comments. Jobs are worth as much as you're willing to pay. If it's skilled labor that's done right, totally worth it.

Fyi... the previous owners of my building paid more to install a single cheapo one tube baseboard unit. You got a good deal.

All true, SuperTech, but no one, not even you, wants to get ripped off (and no I'm not saying this person was ripped off). The question is reasonable, "did I get a good value in my market?"

Figuring on doing the paperwork and keeping the shop stocked and in working order and driving around and giving people estimates and all the other things to run a business, whether it is a single person doing it or there are other people working for the company that do some of those things, ultimately probably about 10%-20% of the time spent is billable.

Fair to whom? Apparently, you got great value. I hope he charged enough & Made a decent profit. You're "assisting" to help move the job ahead is nice, but don't expect any discounts for that. It is extremely RARE that I ever take ANY help from a client, for just this reason...Mad Dog

What's fair is what you and the repair person agree to.
