Weil McLain direct vent ultra oil boiler-has to be constantly reset

5 year old WM oil boiler has had problems since day 1. After about 3-4 weeks of working ok, it won’t fire up and has to be reset. Which gradually goes from resetting it w times a day to >15 to get it to turn on and heat, and then it won’t fire up at all. Tech has tried all different fixes and had oil specialist come over but hasn’t been fixed yet. Cleaning/replacing nozzle seems to help for a while, but after 3-4 weeks it happens again. Anyone else have this problem or any ideas? Thanks

The way I find a glitch is sit there and cycle the burner though the switch ...

There was an error rendering this rich post.

How clean is your oil and your tank? Anyone checked the filter on the oil supply line at the tank?

That boiler is extremely sensitive about its combustion settings.  It has the Beckett NX burner and if the draft and air isn't setup correctly it will rapidly fill with soot. The boiler can be setup to run without making any soot but there's a much smaller margin for error than other boilers. Definitely not my favorite thing to work on.  You need a good technician with a digital combustion analyzer to make sure draft and combustion are set properly. It also seems like the burner runs better on the Hago nozzle specified in the manual rather than the Delavan nozzles I usually use everywhere.

The oil and tank are clean and the filter has also been checked. I have a supposedly experienced tech coming today so I will see what he says, and tactfully bring up the question of the combustion analyzer, hago nozzle...Thank you so much for your information!

If there not going to do a combustion analysis then tell them no thanks and call someone else.

Thanks for your input. So the tech came and would not even touch it. He said he has dealt with this exact boiler before with the same issues and it was a constant problem. He looked at the venting and said it should be 15 ft. or less, and with two T's it was over 15 ft. and that may be the problem. He said some options may be a power venter, chimney, or move the boiler to the exterior wall for a more "direct" vent. He said call Weil McLain (which I have done, and my original installer has done-and they basically blamed Beckett) but they would not send anyone out to look. He also said possibly contact consumer affairs. Idk. What I do know is that I have no heat still.

Maybe it's the setup of the Nx burner.
Maybe it's the vent length. What is the total length? If venting is within specs, then you need someone familiar with the UO and Beckett Nx.
As mentioned, the Nx must be set up precisely (DOBA). They're not very forgiving.
I've only seen the UO (not many) with the Nx, but looking at the I&O manual, I see they also offer the Riello BF5 for direct vent.
Weil McLain does have territory managers. You would have to coordinate with a contractor to meet on site, but it can be done. And this contractor better have all the correct instruments to check and adjust. I.e. , combustion analyzer, smoke tester, draft gauge, pump pressure and vacuum gauges, for starters.
