Steam Boiler Vaporstat Help

I replaced my pressuretrol with a vaporstat, and I am have some trouble with the settings. I started with the main at 8 oz/in2 and the cut in at 4 oz/in3. It ran fine for a couple weeks but then the boiler wouldn't turn on. As soon as i raised the main to 12 oz/in2, the boiler kicked on and has been running. I have a oz pressure gauge installed and it runs all the way up to the 16oz/in2 then turns off as expected. Any help or advice to get this set correctly? I was originally told i dont want to be above 8 on the main.

Most my radiators are running the trane vapor system.

I have 3 gorton #2s on the main and 1 on the air accumulator.

The house is being heated well. I am just worried about cycling on the boiler and getting it set correctly.

Double check that that pigtail is really and truly open all the way into the boiler. The boiler not turning back on strongly suggests that there may be a problem with that.

Is it possible to snake that pigtail? I am a little leery to try to take it out. Looks like its been there awhile.

Try a VERY long zip tie -- and blow and pour water through it.

I personally put my Pressuretrols & Vaporstat much higher than that. The reason is you may not be getting the most accurate reading so close to the boiler eater line. Ill put up a Picture of how I like em..Mad Dog 🐕

I have found in both Low Pressure Steam and Vapor applications, this really help you dial in the sweet spot..and that will take time...Mad Dog 🐕
