Brass Inside, or Brass Outside? Do You Prefer Male or Female?

Let's limit this to a plumbing discussion, the title notwithstanding.

I am going from 1in schedule K copper pipe to 1in Pex A. I can use either a male or female brass sweat adapter. I have asked about this but to do not have a consistent answer.

Should the brass be inside the copper, or the copper inside the brass. Male or female adapter? Also, for what reason?

I appreciate any knowledge you can lay on me regarding this.

Brass to copper will work either way. Not an issue.

The issue is when connecting plastic like PVC to copper where it's best to use a female copper adapter with a male on the PVC. On a job with high pressure flanges are used.

If it is hard copper tube, a Sharkbite type fitting could be used. The of both tubes is the same. Non threaded connections needed.

There is a sweat X pex adapter available also. Which eliminates the threads.

If it is soft K copper, a flare fitting is preferred.

I use whichever combination costs less.
