Reconnect flare fittings?

Might be a really dumb question, but can you disconnect and reconnect flare fittings on oil supply/return lines? I figure the answer must be yes — don’t you do that regularly, say when you disconnect at the pump to check vacuum/pressure, whatever? 

My return line has a drip (every 30 secs.) which seems to be coming from the back end, the part where the tube goes into the narrow end of the conical fitting, though not 100% sure of exact location. Before I try jamming it tighter, I thought I’d disconnect and look at the flare. (I have Firomatics I can close on both supply and return, although the one on the return line shouldn’t be there by code. Also, am going to one-pipe with upgrades hopefully soon so the return will disappear, but don’t know exactly when and don’t like a drip in the meantime.)

    If it can’t be tightened reflare it.

    Yes they can be taken apart and put back together. Reflare it if tightening doesn't work as @pecmsg mentioned.

    Will do. Will have to buy a flaring tool, take a deep breath and say I can do this… Will take it apart first and look for signs of splitting etc.
