I haven’t seen any other boiler with it so close. Right out of the combustion chamber0

Agree it should be moved to the horizontal run. There's no way a combustion test is getting done without picking up free air from the regulator.

In the current location, the barometric draft regulator will work fine. However I also see a problem with getting proper combustion test results. We have a few like that- if you tip your analyzer probe down so it's below the barometric, you'll get good readings.
The only drawback I see is that on some boilers, more noise will escape if the barometric is that close.All Steamed Up, Inc.

i would worry more about that near boiler piping than that damper location. bullhead tee on the equalizer and undersize. doesn't look like 1-1/2 as required by manufacturer unless pic is deceiving0
