What is going on with that gas train? Is that a pilot regulator on the right? Is the valve just an older standard solenoid valve? What is the coil of tubing? Is it a millivolt system that uses the thermopile to prove flame?0

I have that too.. I don't give it much thought as I can't remember it ever slowing down a Tech on a service call.. but there is fiberglass under the jacket..Steamhead said:I'm assuming that is asbestos on the door

Good dog! Get an exterminator in to put some bait traps out. Rats are very hard on wiring, etc.PkTaylor said: The bad news... last time when I went down to take pictures, I stepped on a live rat (who thankfully didn't bite me) and then my dog saved me by killing it.
Be sure to keep you dog away from the traps and any dead rodents. Gotta keep him healthy and ready to protect you.

That last boiler is the same as in the house I grew up in. We moved in during 1958 when I was 2 months old. The rating plate said National US Radiator so after they merged. Looks like the same gas train we had. In 1988 the gas valve stuck open and surprisingly my mechanically challenged Dad managed to figure out how to turn the gas off. A year later it start leaking. It was on a converted gravity system and looking back, the water was set to 135 most of the time.1
