1912 home....used to be gravity but long ago got a big red B&G 100.....boiler is an old Burnham Holiday.

These guys are thankfully staying put but these rads and systems are quickly disappearing from Westchester County,  NY and I hate it!!

I can't decide if this is amazing or unnecessarily complicated

About 10 years ago I saw a stairway radiator like that in an 1880s townhouse in the Back Bay section of Boston.

I have a Burnham Holiday with B&G100 still happily heating my house.

Wish I had those nice rads to go with it.  Mine are boring in comparison.

Cool radiator from a historic Denver mansion. I love the curvature as it follows the contour of the window.

Those were custom-made for the curvature. If you look at one of the fitter's catalogs from that era, they told you to send a template with the exact curvature. And of course they cost a lot more than standard radiators.

    Beautiful.

Can you imagine trying to get something like that today?

Guess anything is possible with enough cash. But the age of ordering one of these from a catalog are long gone.

Are those left-right nipples with the holes tapped at an angle?

I am curious about this as well. It seems where the sections meet would have to be pie-shaped and the nipple holes angled?

Yup. And they had to make each one on a custom basis. Can you imagine?

I'd imagine they just made the rough cast boss big enough they could mill it to the angle they needed and with a small enough hole to drill and tap at the needed angle.

One of my 15 restored radiators in my 1898 Victorian. Disassembled each coil, sand blasted, restored pipes, couplings and valve, painted and reassembled. Totally worth the effort. All are works of art as far as I'm concerned. Would rather look at them than paintings on the wall!

Wow, I was going to say what a work of art - but see you covered that! That is the best color choice. Agreed, I could just look at that instead of other works of art. And to know they are functional is great.
