This was my favorite project of my career. I'm glad I had the resources to record and save a bit of heating history.

    I would do a few things differently today, like use a variable speed pump. Those cast iron boilers are built to last, with parts still available, and I'd probably have a good debate over using a condensing boiler.

    Wow! Very well done video, wonderful home, and an impressive heating system.

    I would not do anything different with the heating system. When the building is irreplaceable and not inhabited all the time, there is a lot to be said for reliability.

    Nice -- when I did a Stone victorian in Chestnut Hill PA ... used the Buderus panels. Same -- The third floor was for the help and laundry w/ little heat.

    Excellent project and video record of it. Ok, admit it, you loosened that valve ahead of time and then took it off for the video, right? :)

    Voyager...It so happened that all of the old radiator valves came off without any problems. I like it when that happens.

    Nice video. It was nice to include the tour. I did not see the returns for the radiators. Am I missing something? Thanks.

    All of the radiators have returns. It was a 2 pipe gravity system originally.

    Just curious, but was there ever a a gravity system that functioned with one pipe? Or were they all two pipe systems? I know hot and cold water can stratify in big pipes, but don't know if anyone ever tried do to a whole water system that way.
