I would do a few things differently today, like use a variable speed pump. Those cast iron boilers are built to last, with parts still available, and I'd probably have a good debate over using a condensing boiler.0

All of the radiators have returns. It was a 2 pipe gravity system originally.0

Just curious, but was there ever a a gravity system that functioned with one pipe? Or were they all two pipe systems? I know hot and cold water can stratify in big pipes, but don't know if anyone ever tried do to a whole water system that way.Paul Pollets said:All of the radiators have returns.
