New Oil boiler installed

Hello
I had a new carrier boiler with domestic hot water installed couple days ago.
My contract/paper work states "carrier 86% efficient and energy star rated"
I review the manual and even call carrier myself and they say its 84% and not energy star.
I call up the contractor who installed it, and they said its 86% because they installed a different nozzle.
How does that sound to you?

What model boiler? I wasn't aware Dunkirk made a condensing oil fired boiler.0

Boilers with coils produced 3 section, 4,and 5 section with numerous btu outputs associated with numerous efficiency ratings and certifications depending on the burner nozzle installed
The 3 section boiler which you have would have a Maximum btu with the rating of 84% with the largest nozzle
Your system has the nozzle for 126,000 btu for your size home which is 86% and energy star rated
Please refer to the chart you sent me with the ratings of 126,000 btu with the .90 gph
does that make sense?????
I understand smaller nozzle means less oil, but that doesnt improve the AFUE... Because the AFUE is still a percentage.. of coarse the less oil injected to the burner so there is less going into the exhaust but it should be the same % , and actually it will be running more often to keep up with demands0 -

140K BTU's is huge! Have a heat Load / Loss calculation done.0 -
Changing the firing rate MAY increase the AFUE to 86%, but if it's not certified on the boiler tag it won't count for EnergyStar.Bob Boan

i called carrier and they dont have specialist there to answer technical questions0 -
It's not just the nozzle size the oil pressure from the pump has to be taken into consideration0
