Let me know what you guys think of this one. Anybody else do this type of thing with the old plumbing parts of the takeout? A while ago there was a post on the page about repurposing salvage parts from plumbing and boiler change outs I didn’t have this project finished at the time and can’t find it to repost it in that feed on the wall. This is a project that I made as an anniversary gift for some friends . They have been married 60 years he likes to repurpose stuff and makes yard decorations and clocks out of hubcaps things like that. They spend a lot of time with the flowers and vegetables in the garden so I figured I’d give them some flowers that wouldn’t wilt over the winter. Also I was fortunate to find an all the license plate in my pile of junk that matched the month and year that they were married. I had some old blank valve tags that I use to create a custom one.

Very nice. I have a daughter that makes ceramics and paints. I had a toilet in the back yard for many years. just sat it under the pine trees. I loved it my wife hated it. That's art.

@Steve Minnich, I think you'll like this. I know you've worked on some cool projects like this.

I’ve been hoarding handles to build something like that. You have some nice old timers, nice work

Hi, Here's something. Not elegant, like what @Steve Minnich or @Hvac_artisan does, but heck! :p

    It's not heating,
but I really like this tribute to a very expensive failure.
Can anyone guess what it is from?

Worm and ring gears from a gearbox of some sort, old ski lift drive, farm equipment, or mining winch.

    Elevator hardware?

Yes, the company that had the PM contract failed to keep the gearbox topped off and the elevator seized during high season. What unfolded after that was an ugly legal battle. After the battle was over they had this commissioned with the parts, the pulley in the middle is part of the safety governor and is included for artistic balance.
The owner is a customer of mine, whenever they talk about differing maintenance, I just point to the table..

Wonder why the gearbox needed"topping off" an oil leak somewhere?
Usually you need to be licensed and insured to service elevator equipment, typically not a property managers, or building maintenance skill set :) Lots of liability around elevator work.

These guys were manufacturers technicians who had a service contract on the elevator. They were charging for the work but not checking the fluid levels as called out in the PM agreement.
