How did you get things to be so clean?
There's no soot, no water with rust on the floor?
    Nice!

Did it leak or was fuel savings the motivation?

Leak? Fat chance. Pristine inside. Also a 3-pass. Could easy have gone another 50 years. But unaffordable.

Look ma, no header! I was just running the velocity numbers on the 380 a couple days ago ( I hope to use 2 of them at my church) and with those big 4 inch tappings, it quite unlikely any water is getting up out of the boiler. Even just a single tapping will have your exit velocity down around 24 ft/sec... still well under the carryover velocity of 32 ft/sec for 4 inch pipe. I have the two laid out using just single 4 inch riser over to a common header that drips into the common return..... Slant Fin style. I still kept the system supply past the two risers.

Actually, it does have a 4" header. The original one up in the ceiling. Off of that header are the 3 supplies.

We thought about doing our standard drop header, then connecting to the original header, but that seemed like overkill. Especially with all of the height we have, and the 4".

It'll make more sense when we put the equalizer back.

Yes, I saw that up there, that looks more like a manifold than a header... the supplies are coming off everywhere.. on either side of the boiler supplies, in between, and the equalizer is on the opposite end. However, with the 2- 4 inch boiler risers, your velocity in the risers is only about 12 ft /sec...nice and low.

So tiny!! What's the EDR of this boiler? Oh and I see it's not on any blocks! Is that your typical install pattern?

I'm trying to understand when and why people put so many on blocks (mine is on blocks)

EDR is 867. We don’t use blocks on steam as we like to have all the height we can get for dry steam, and to aide in A or B dimensions.

It's impressive how quickly and smoothly you complete these projects. What size crew was working on this one?

The first two days we had two. But illness struck over the weekend, so just one on last day.
