    HAHA, that's not steam, that's a water hammer system.

    They must have looked at the blueprint upside down

    Maybe steam comes in through trap side. Obviously won't get very much heat that way. Looks like an early April fools joke. @DanHolohan. Is this radiator actually in service?

    If the trap is on the return, then it will sort of work as a 1 pipe system.

    It is a quickly well vented one pipe radiator.....the supply riser looks too small to handle counter flow operation though.

    Although we do not know which side is supply or return.

    Being so ignorant of 2 pipe steam, it took me awhile to figure out. It is that the supply should be on the high side with the return and trap on the low side, right?

    This is not a new take on a two pipe system,

    It is a leave in in some one else's building.

    This reminds me of an upside down cake that is put out for display.

    May be this a new way to collect hot condensate and turn a steam radiator into a hot water radiator zone.
