Old 24volt House Lighting System - What a mess!

These folks recently bought the house and the home inspector said this was okay.

That is just sad. Is it one of those systems where much of the lighting (and outlets) is controlled by low voltage switches to relays, and can be changed around at whim? I've hit a few of those in the Boston area, but the ones I saw were done properly with nice terminal strips and such like.

None of the lights are working because the transformer is blown. I'm going to replace that and check it out tomorrow morning.
Whats also weird is that one ceiling fan is still responding to the 24v wall switch, but the light on it is not.Bob Boan

Ah yes, 1960s style of "energy conservation". I've been into so.e ov those type of systems, all have been in school lighting though.Serving Northern Maine HVAC & Controls. I burn wood, it smells good!0
