Why cant I get these oil burners to fire when I bring 120v directly to primary Control?

Hi
Can someone tell me why I cant get a few Beckett AfG burners with Honeywell 7184B Primary control combination to fire when I bring 120 Volts directly to the white and blk.( Iam trying to change the blast tube and end cone using the same burner chassis for a different boiler) When I do this the steady green light comes on which means burner on while nothing is happening. I have tt jumped out. When I do this with Riello Burners and carlin Burners they fire right up. What am I missing? All the burners were working when I pulled them off boilers to change them to gas burners

I have attached some pics
Thanks
Joe

If the green light is lit when you power up the control, the cad call is detecting light. The control is programmed not to start the burner if it sees light.

Try disconnecting one of the yellow wires at the control and see if that helps. Of course, with the wire disconnected, the control will lock out after the trial for ignition.

i agree with steamhead or that primary control is bad, also that control needs power to it to function, cant jump them like the grey box ones

I can't tell from the picture but did you energize the limit wire as well?

I thought that might be problem and pulled out cad cell and put finger over it while applying power and nothing changed.. i believe when bring power directly to burner you are bypassing limit.. its no different then bi and b2 from l8124c TAR sending the 2 wires to power burner

Seems like you are trying to bench fire this burner. Covering up the cad cell eye with your finger is not the same as removing one yellow wire. Remove wire, reset control. After prepurge and you hear the oil valve open, reconnect wire.
You could disconnect the motor and see if you have 120 coming from the motor terminal.
Keep in mind, that this is dangerous, and if the cad cell is seeing light with the unit not running, then it stands to reason it will see light if the flame drops off and continue pumping oil. So don't leave this unattended during your experiment.
