Just trying to make a few upgrades before winter and tried this last night and didn't get the wiring right.

You can't use an L8148J Universal replacement relay with a vent damper. The reason is the primary control (L8148J) does not have an internal fuse which must blow on the first call for heat. All controls that contain a place for a damper have such a fuse. The blowing of the fuse prevents operation of the equipment if the damper is not attached to the equipment.0
