UPDATE 7-22-15
I'm currently getting an offer to merge with a larger contractor. That means that I may not be leaving NJ after all, and will retain my current service territory. Portions of the business may still be up for sale, but for now the offers are on hold.

----

My family is planning a change of location and lifestyle. I'm selling off Thatcher Heating & Air Conditioning. Looking for
a package deal preferably, but would be willing to separate all of our assets as well. We have a shop full of parts inventory and sheet metal equipment, power tools, threaders, two brand new trucks, and one older pickup truck with a liftgate. Hard data and costs to be discussed in private.

Let me know what you're interested in and we'll talk. I'm open to almost anything right now. At some point soon, I'll attempt to list all of our inventory and tools. Chances are, we'll have what you're looking for. I can provide pictures upon request.

P.S. I'll be staying in the business for consultation and freelance work.

UPDATE

I, for one, am shocked at the news. But I can understand that occasionally an epiphany occurs that takes your life's path in a profoundly different direction.

I wish you well and hope you will continue posting here from time to time. Consulting is good, though, since you can still get good steam system outcomes without directly handling the wrenches and backaches.

Wherever you go, I hope there's at least one steam radiator involved…

When you get a list up let me know I may be interested in some things.

I won't be out of the industry entirely. I may even have the time to write a book or offer some sort of educational material. Who knows. I'll also be able to focus on the consultation part and hopefully help even more people than just within my current 100 mile radius.

I'm waiting on a few pending offers to take everything as package deal. If those fall through, I'll post a list to sell everything separately. I may even have a few items left over from the sale that I'll keep updated here.

Well at least that's encouraging. But we'll sure miss those excellent job pics!

    Update:

I'm getting a few job offers that might be sweet enough to stay in NJ, but still have it make sense to sell the business. Now the little monkey in my skull is clanging his cymbals a little faster. Anybody else have an opening for Service Manager or Field Supervisor? Before I make a dramatic change...

I may make another thread about it, but here's as good a place as any.

I am staying in NJ. I was given a very good offer to move into a larger company that only services commercial boilers and burners. The general manager is putting me on the fast track to manage the service department and eventually the whole company. He hired my partner and employee as well. This move is the equivalent of fast-forwarding 10 years into the future for us. It was too good to pass up. Plus, working on larger systems will give me the chance to implement industry upgrades on a grander scale. That's where a bulk of our enegry consumption is wasted and environmental impact is made.

I will still be able to offer some light service and consultations for residential systems on my own free time.

    Bumping this thread for updates.

The FORD TRANSIT and all sheet metal equipment has been sold.

Still looking to sell the FORD E350 UTILITY BOX TRUCK. Details are above, with a lower asking price since I've made a few more payments since the last update.

I'll even include the ladders (40ft extension, and 10ft A-frame) as well as any fittings that you want. Even all of them if that suits your fancy. I probably have about $15,000 worth of parts and fittings. I'll deliver it almost anywhere.

    Asking $33,000
