manifold pressure at grill

I live in NYC. I had a customer ask me to install a popular name brand natural gas grill. On the grill it says it should be 4.5" water column. The set up is as follows: a 1/2 gas cock connects to a quick connect hose which has a flare hose end going into the manifold. now in a gas valve on a boiler, i understand that the valve has a built in regulator to regulate down the 1/2 psi or (14" W.c) down to 3.5 " water column. On the grill, I don't see a regulator so isn't being fed gas at 1/2 psi which is much higher than 4.5 W.C?

    What is your

    inlet gas pressure? If it is natural gas it should be around 6"W.C. out of the house regulator. If it is a low pressure gas area it can be between 6" W.C. to 10" W.C. 

    How may burners does the unit have? What is the required input?



    Connect a manometer onto one of the orifices on one of the burners if it is a multiple burner unit and see what you have for pressure with the other burners running.
