Main Vent Calculation

I have no main vents in my single pipe steam system. I have two mains - a 45 ft run and a 24 ft run. I've removed sheetrock and have found a spot for the main vents, but would like some assistance on how to calculate the optimal number of main vents.
For a 45 and 24 ft run (1 3/4" pipe), how many Gorton #2s would you recommend on each main?
Thanks for the help.

I'd use a Gorton #1 on the short main
and a #2 on the longer one.
If you want to use all #2s, use one on the short main and two on the long one.All Steamed Up, Inc.

Tapping into main
Any recommendations on drilling/tapping into the main? I do not have room to insert a tee, so I'll have to tap it. Is a 1/2" tap sufficient?0 -
Yup
that'll work fine. Just make sure you angle the tap up slightly from horizontal. This will angle the pipe upward a bit so water won't collect in it.All Steamed Up, Inc.
