i have 8kw strip and only 1 side is heating i have voltage going in and coming out, i have 26amps going in 14amps coming out it is an old trane unit from 1990

    What your question is, but it sounds like your heat element is split apart and grounded. Not an uncommon failure with spiral elements.

    Current in a circuit

    If you are measuring the amperage before and after the heaters and are getting measurements of 26A and 14A respectively, you definitaly have a short to ground somewhere. The current being supplied to a circuit from a distribution panel should be the same as the current returning to the distribution panel. If such is not the case, the current is being lost somewhere.



    De-energize the circuit, disconnct the power leads to the heaters and check for resistance/continuity to ground.
