    But I think the P404's should be replaced with vaporstats. I don't know about you, but I have never been really successful setting the 404 series Ptrols at very low presures with any accuracy MHO

    that mysterious line is a gas line, not a return.
    The shut-off is just above the boiler.

    The Hi-limit

    is a safety control, as opposed to a operating control. It can be set to the operators discretion, but it will need to be set at a higher setpoint than the operating control cut-out or nusiance shutdowns may occur requiring manual reset. It is just fine at 10psig and probably best to keep it there. As a general rule 5 psig over cut-out is satisfactory to avoid non-attended boiler shutdown.
