9.9 year old burnham boiler, leaking heat exchanger, no one wants to touch it

Options

i've had two different companies in to look at my boiler. both have concluded that the heat exchanger is leaking.

neither one seems particularly interested in replacing it. neither will give me a quote.

is there a reason for this?

i've got a 90+ year old mom to care for and maybe this winter won't be as tough as the last one, but i would like to have a new boiler in place before it gets real cold.

is this a burnham issue? or have i just not found the right people?

thanks in advance.

Lots of reasons why folks might pass on a job… where are you located? We might know someone who might be able to help.

If you are talking about replacing the heat exchanger in a boiler, that's a big job. If you're asking for the heat exchanger to be replaced while the companies are recommending replacing the entire boiler, I'm not surprised.

Did you talk to Burnham? It might still be under warranty.

The heat exchanger is the boiler. Burnhams rust out really fast sometimes. You probably need a new boiler. Ask for quotes for a Peerless or Weil-McClain and make sure they measure your radiators in order to arrive at the correct size. It will be expensive.
