Indirect water heater

Goodmorning guys,

What is everyone using for indirect water heaters that have a good warranty?

I’m dealing with an 80 gallon crown megastor with corrosion and pinholes on the relief tapping. All stainless steel, crown/ velocity says it isn’t under warranty because the homeowner isn’t the original owner and ownership was never transferred within a year from when the new owner bought the house.

I don’t do a lot of indirect heaters, looking for some advice on a good brand/warranty.

Thanks guys

You might want to get the water tested before replacing that heater and find the cause of the failure.

Stainless steel is good but doesn't like salt and chlorine

you will find original owner as a stipulation for every one that I am aware of. I've used viessmann, triangle tube (now defunct but great while it lasted) HTP, NTI, amtrol. While they would have honored a warranty for the original owner almost certainly, pinholes and corrosion are typically not due to defects

they’re on a well but have a softener and filter system. Water was tested last year. Everything came back clear. I think the original owners of the house didn’t keep up on changing the filters and softeners.

glass lined steel tanks tend to handle chlorides and salts better. Stone lined tanks from US Boiler and Vaughn are an option also.

I was thinking the same thing, could it be salt from the softener?

A lot of the brass fittings around the tank are corroded/white&crusty.
