Capping abandoned oil line for steam boiler
I was doing some demo in my basement, and decided to pull out the old oil line. Boiler has been upgraded to gas years ago. I crimped the tank side of the oil line with pliers and started rolling up the 1/2" oil line. Of course when I walked into the boiler room there was oil on the floor. The old oil line was clipped flush with the slab.
I'd like to make a small hole where it goes under the slab and then pops up and properly cap. it. Ideally I'd like to suck most of the oil out of the line.
How should I go about this? Pics to follow.
Thanks

Oh Boy!!! Fuel oil and Gas piping are NOT D.I.Y. projects. Who knows how much oil remains in the clipped line. Before you make it worse, I rec'd you call in a professional to finish what you started. There are very strict EPA guidelines that need to be observed. Thats MY best rec'd for you. Mad Dog

Oh boy. Do you have any idea what that line is connected to? Was this from an indoor tank? Or… I hope not… an outdoor buried tank? And if the latter, was the tank properly abandoned? For which you would have a record and certification somewhere…
Might be interesting (👿) to find out…

It was connected to the oil tank and the old boiler. When the plumber replaced my oil boiler I had them remove the tank.
Everything was done by the books - well reputed plumber. So I'm sure he got rid of it according to guidelines.

Thanks. So don't bother to extract the oil in the line?
