Pipes are banging.
Can someone explain to me why that reducer will cause the pipes to bang or if it shouldn't cause them to bang. The supply piping with the reducer just doesn't seem right to me. This is the only picture I have.

Reducer Tee you mean? That equalizer should be at the end of the header, not a tee before the supplies to the mains. Also the Hartford Loop is way higher than the manufacturers recommendations. Actually, with the angle of the photo I can't really tell what the height of the Hartford Loop is. It might be OK if it is below the cyclegard probe.
Basically he piped it in a way that encourages water entrainment up into the system, instead of dry steam.

If the water is not oily and not carrying over it will be fine.
See if the water level drops during steaming
Where is the banging if you can tell?

Look for low points in the system. Sagging pipes where condensate will build up and cause steam and condensate to collide. Any spot that is sagging and not pitching back to the boiler can cause banging.
Check the owners manual for proper installation and correct any issues. Your near boiler piping needs some work.

the Tee to the equalizer is reduced, the header has to flood to at least the tee level to "equalize" or drain, meanwhile you're pushing that flood water (tidal wave) up your main,
and or you could be getting collapsing occurring at the rise reduction out of the boiler also,
and it's not close to the correct order as mentioned above, (system main after the reduced equalizer tee on the header)
do over,

Was the steve that wrote their name in the mortar the person that installed this abomination?
You have 2 reducers that are problems among several other things that are just as much if not more of your problem.
