Duct Fan Blower?
Would like to hear comments regarding the above. Are they effective?
Thanks!

Maybe. Sometimes. It is better to check the basics first, though. Particularly returns, which seem to get neglected. Like almost everything else we play with, the air moves on relatively small pressure diferences, and if the air can't get out of a space, warm air can't get in…

I have used one of those to draw air from a large cardboard box in my garage thru a window in order to create a "paint booth" of sorts. In was very effective in keeping the overspray from ending up all over stuff in my garage and the fan always ends up being a new color every time I paint something else a different color. I wonder why that happens?

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?

Duct booster fan work pretty well when you have undersized or long ducts. They are usually wired to start when the furnace fan runs. You should locate them towards the air register (not near the furnace) so they grab the air where the velocity is starting to "die".
Noise can be an issue with them.

There a Band-Aid to cover up other issues.
