The repiping I saw was in PVC with no House Trap…fill me in…??? Mad Dog

This one is at my house. Getting both dont since traps are obsolete and companies won't camera or hydro just if the house has a trap.

The only problem now is that the pipe with the wye seems to be the main drain for the house. When flushing and running water, it all seems to go through the castiron pipe. The one that had the trap doesn't seem to drain out anything. Could it be the downspouts drain? It contained a lot of roots coming from under the house.

It also had a 5" that converted into a 4" at the trap.

what started this whole project? was the sanitary sewer backing up?
there is likely drain tile around the perimeter of the foundation either outside or inside the wall that comes together under the basement slab and either goes out to a separate storm sewer under the street or possibly combines with the sanitary sewer in to a combined sewer under the street. if it is a combined sewer you may be required to replace the stormwater portion with a sump pump that moves the water outside depending on local regulations.

It must combine somewhere outside the house and inbetween the street, but why would the stromdrain have a trap and not the sewage line? I have had root issues, snaking it 1-2 times a year. Our city eleaviated stromdrains years ago. So they've all been sealed. I hear they usually crack underground and cause root issues. That might have been what I partially removed.
All an all, the problem is outside of the house and the house trap has been removed and replaced with a sanitary pipe. So there should be no problem using a camera or hydro jet.

if it is a combined sewer the trap might be before it connects to the sanitary sewer so sewer gas doesn't back up in to the drain tile and downspout leaders. the stormwater part is very likely connected to drain tile around the footing, not just downspout leaders.

The Trap is what I removed. Doesn't seem to be before the pipe connect.

presumably they go out under the wall toward the main sewer?
is the pipe coming from under the floor where the drain tile around the footing connects together?
0 -
No, that goes to the floor drains and other utilities.

In NYC, we always trap, roof rain leaders, conductors & gutters, yard & area drains, i.e., all Storm Water, clear condensate, et cetera that tie in to a Sanitary or soil line. Mad Dog

Have you called Bison Plumbing as I suggested to solve this issue??

Why wouldn't the sanitary be trapped?

the sanitary has a trap on each fixture. the stormwater piping just connects directly to the tile and the downspout leaders
i have also seen floor drains connected to the stormwater system that didn't appear to have traps.

In most areas the house and it's vents are used to vent the sewer or septic. This isn't the case in NYC.
Single pipe 392sqft system with an EG-40 rated for 325sqft and it's silent and balanced at all times.

Commercial roof drains are not trapped...no need to...clear water waste. Mad Dog
