    Or my favorite: "Why haven't we made any money on any of our jobs for ${high_maintenance_outfit}? Let's lowball them so we get more of their jobs."

    I was out on a job once with one of our senior technicians. We happened to look over at a fabricated angle iron support structure, and one of the X brace angles didn't meet the vertical. The cut off end just hung out there in the air.

    His reaction: "Cut it off 3 times, its still too short". That was in 1970 and I still chuckle when I think about it.
