Burnham v13a running constantly

Happy New Year! Thanks for your attention!!

I bought this place 3 years ago and the dhw has always been scalding hot. I have a feeling the previous home owner removed the mixing valve for dhw (photo of where I think it used to be) for cheap fix and the sensor or thermostat is set for the highest temp. I had it serviced last year and they couldn't figure out how to turn it down.

I am rarely home and hardly ever use the hot water. Is there a way to disable/disconnect the sensor or thermostat for the dhw so its not always trying to make 200 degree domestic hot water??

Thanks!!

cut your domestic hot water off of that crusty beast and get a standalone water heater

neil : I have tried everything with the settings on the 3 little dials in the box… turned them as low as they go but doesnt do anything. This boiler is supposed to have a knob on a mixing valve to adjust the temp but its not there.

Paul: yes exactly! how do I turn it off??????

my right hand and my left hand got confused, and now i see 2 grey aquastats,

show what's inside the domestic, the one on it's own plate with the copper pipes, and of the other,

then call a plumber to pipe in a mix valve on your domestic,

    or,

@ethicalpaul wants you to cut the domestic copper going to the boiler, and buy a heatpump water heater instead,

could it be as simple as disconnecting the thermostat wire for the domestic hot water? Then it would stop trying to heat it? Any idea which one it is?

You won't like hearing this but you need a new boiler

Begin the process of getting it replaced.

Get an accurate Manual "J" Heat Load / Loss done to determine the size boiler needed.

Make up a list of items that will need replacing, there a lot of crusty pipes in that picture.

Get several quotes from contractors with references. Check on the references!

You could even get the replacement in place and ready to go once the weather or that boiler breaks!

I appreciate everyone's input!🙏 Most of the crusty damage happened years ago and I've been told its tight for now.. maybe like the Millennium Falcon? hahaha

I agree it needs replacing soon

Please direct me on how to turn off the demand for Domestic Hot Water.. so it thinks it's just a regular heating boiler?
