Main vents near boiler

Hey all,

I have been trying to tweak my steam system to get it running properly. I had adjusted the radiator vents and am now getting relatively even heat throughout the house however from the start of the boiler it is taking close to 25-30 mins before the radiators start to warm up. Is this a proble with the main vents? I have attached several images here. These are short runs coming up from the boiler. I have seen gorton 1 and 2's but am unsure what is needed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

They have venting capacity charts you can download for free. You can size your main vents according to length and size of pipe. Installing a Gorton #2 on each main would significantly improve system performance. Install the main vents on a 6 inch nipple or longer

What you need is main vents at the ends or at least very near the ends of the steam mains.

The pictured location is good. You said it's a short run, try a Maid o Mist #1 or Gorton #1 in each position

Those things are ancient anyway. A couple of new Gorton vents are faster and will last another 60 years. A good investment and regular service.
