Because an appliance connector is often corrugated stainless steel tubing with a flare. Even though it's not actual csst. In the days of my youth they were corrugated brass tubing that were painted.

Cost is what you spend , value is what you get.

Nice video series @ethicalpaul. Re you comments on why steam would come down the center versus the ends; I expect it’s because the end have more cooling/condensing capacity due to exposure to large volumes of cold air versus the center where the air gap between adjacent sections is small and being heated by each section.

I like @109A_5 drawing but with a couple mods

I would put the drip in the bucket and submerge it in water as shown. Mark the bucket water level so you can figure out how much condensate your getting

Seems the only effect is the output is reduced due to the cold condensate in the corner.

Looking forward to the one pipe tests. 😁

yeah sorry all. I called it that indeed because it is Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing.

I also used it with my evacuated tube solar hot water system and it was called that.

after looking I see what I used here is FAC

    Thanks for the kind education!

@ethicalpaul - admire the work you put into your experiments!
Are two pipe steam always configured high/low like your example? If not, reverse slope would impede steam inflow and presumably cause hammer noises.

I think I have seen some that were low-low and yes that could be a concern then.

    Basically don’t do that 😅
