commercial space: Pump not getting power, the setup has a RIB RELAY. The RIB is setup When the light is on the pump should be running. Blue and white stripes is my control wire, yellow is my common, orange is my NO.(Line voltage) going out on my NO my orange up to the pump I have no power. Make contact, still no power to that wire. preference changed the cartridge and all the wires were melted inside I don’t know if maybe it destroyed the rib and it isn’t making contact.) what do you guys think?

Update:5:25PM: it was a bad Rib relay, I also agree the way they have it wired makes no sense in terms of protection. The pump seized up got super hot and, burned up everything and, also leaking, that’s what I believe happened. It never tripped the breaker which is a concern, I ripped all the wiring out and replaced the rib relay. They need heat hot and hot water for now, I’m going to definitely come back and figure why it never tripped a breaker. facilities guy couldn’t even find the breaker for it. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

If "all the wires are melted inside" you have a bigger problem that a pump which isn't running.

You have a circuit which is not properly protected. The whole idea of fuses and circuit breakers is to keep overloads or shorts from damaging equipment (or people). I would remove power from the system at the most distant possible cutoff — perhaps the main switchgear — and go through every inch of wiring, looking for a short somewhere (possibly an arc) and also looking for which circuits do not have proper protection.

Fix all that, and then we'll try to figure out your relay problem…
