Buderus GB142/60 not firing for heating call

k_2
k_2 Member Posts: 30

System:

Buderus GB142/60

Buderus indirect tank

4 Grundfos circulators

Taco control box for standard thermostats

Have system pics if helpful

Symptoms:

When a call for heat comes it does not fire the burner

Turn up the hot water temperature and it will fire and run and apparently continue on until the end of call for heat.

Ideas?

Located Metro West 495 area. He has been having some problems getting service if anyone is interested. It does not leak and has been reasonably reliable thusfar.

Pretty well narrows it down to the control box… or the wiring associated with it.

Do any of the circulators turn on when the associated thermostat is calling for heat?

Really have to look at how the particular installation is wired to see where the signal from the thermostat isn't getting passed along. There are a LOT of different ways to wire these things.

Does the boiler have an AM10 outdoor reset control? If so, it’s probably in warm weather shut down. That means the control holds the heat off when it’s 68* or above outside.

Sorry, for some reason my comment did not show up even when I refreshed the browser, and I gave up looking.

I did not see a separate AM10 control. This is not happening now, it is happening in cold weather

I do not believe there are error codes

Check the set points in the AM10 and the temperature sensors are in range….

are you in warm weather shut down? You may want to check what you have that set for

On a call for heat the wall relay will turn on the zone circulator and the end switch in the relay is wired to the AM10 to signal a call for heat… The AM10 control which is a outdoor reset signals the boiler what temperature to supply to heating zones …

Simple 6 wire connection. .. Two to the boiler , two for the sensor and two for thermostat or end switch …

The AM10 is obsolete and not available anymore … You can wire in a Tekmar with a supply sensor ..
