One-pipe from two-pipe system

So, if a home owner with a problematic two-pipe system has added air vents to radiators, would it operate as one-pipe? It seems to work, but cause problems elsewhere.
There is some remodelling and linear convectors are installed with no trap and the condensate pipe rises higher than the top of the rad. It has an air vent and still heats.
Is this a common ‘fix’? Troubleshooting the whole system seems to not be a priority.

Too common and doesn't fix.0

Amazing how forgiving steam can be. Sometimes. But what you are describing is a bandaid, and may or may not give rise to other problems down the road.Br. Jamie, osb

It is a terrible patch. It sort of works so they don’t want to change it. It has causes other issues.Fixing the system seems to be too much effort.0
