Need water feeder

in Oil Heating
I have an oil heated furnace . When it was installed there was no feeder added. Can I add one now. I have to go down cellar a few times a day to add water. I

Well... yes, assuming you have a low water cutoff which is compatible, you can add an autofeeder.
However. If this is steam, you should be adding no more than a gallon per week to the boiler, if that -- some people manage a whole heating season without adding any. The added water will kill your boiler very quickly.
And if you adding that much water, you have a leak somewhere. Might be a steam leak, might be a water leak in a return.
On the other hand, if this is hot water, you should essentially never have to add water. Period. Again, you have a leak somewhere.
Either way, find the leak. An autofeeder is a bandaid, not a solution.Br. Jamie, osb

If this is steam or hot water adding excessive amount of water is not recommended as it will result in boiler corrosion. If it is steam you should only have to add a small amount of water every week or two.1 -
