Rust on Brand New Burnham Boiler
Boilertrouble

in Oil Heating
I had a brand new Burnham Boiler installed a few weeks ago. Didn’t think to inspect the underside of the boiler during the install, but recently noticed a huge amount of rust underneath it.
Based on the photos below, should I be concerned? Burnham said it’s probably just surface rust, no big deal. As a non-expert, it seems very concerning.![](https://us.v-cdn.net/5021738/uploads/editor/vj/8bozvnjv6gnj.jpeg)

Just surface rust. Perfectly normal.
This.bburd said:There is no need to worry about this, it is entirely normal and insignificant. Cast-iron is tough stuff.

Keep in mind..the cast Iron is very thick. Go get some spiked eggnog or Coquito and Hug the Grandkids! Mad Dog 🐕1

I have put in a zillion cast iron boilers and almost all of them look like that somewhere or other0

Don’t worry, it’s going to rot from the inside out 😅

Completely normal. Scrub a Cast Iron pan and put it on the counter to air dry without drying it and it will look just like the boiler.0
