Smell (not heat strips)

Hello, I have an odd problem I'm hoping someone can help me with. I live in upper Florida and a year and a half ago I purchase a new 2.5 ton Trane heat pump system. The problem is I get a foul when the unit has been running in cooling mode during the day and we switch to heat in the evening. I know that it is not the heat strips. If you turn them on, no smell. The problem also accrues randomly when the heat pump is running. The coils in the handler looks very clean from the bottom. We always made sure to change the filters regularly. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't thing the smell could be coming from the outside unit?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

When the unit is cooling, it is also very likely condensing. I would look at the condensate drains from the indoor units.
