Hello all,

I am looking for a pro to do some work on piping around my boiler. There are three in my zip code that I found on this website. I am wondering if anyone has had experience with them and can make a recommendation. I am also open to recommendations hat are not on this list.

There are three recommendations from this website.

Corrado P. Mastropaolo, Inc.
E-Travis Mechanical LLC
Kenneth F. Ciesla Plumbing

I wonder who will be the first one to thumbs up or thumbs down anyone who signs up for the "Find A Contractor"

I certainly have no comment here. Those companies are nowhere close to my region of the world. At least two of these guys have ancestors from the Northern Mediterranean. Being from the British Isles (Irish ancestry specifically) I can absolutely say with conviction… "No Comment" …on that subject.

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?

I would hope those who are paying monthly/yearly to be listed be competent. But reading some of the case studies leave much to be desired. I don't believe they are vetted in terms of skill so a post like this would make sense.

My Two cents: Advertising here does not Automatically "Christen" a Contractor or company.  However, anyone who Advertises here is usually going to be a cut above the wolf 🐺 pack of contractors and Unlicensed guys out there.  Its a good omen for them and you as a consumer.  They are putting themselves and Craftsmanship out there for critique by their  peers...peer review as they say in academia.  There are plumbers and then there are Plumbers.  Do your homework, call their references, read their testimonials.  Then, go with your gut.  The big advantage YOU have is that if you get poor service or shoddy work, you have a Soapbox to get up on and make your feelings public here at The Wall.   This alone, gives you very good (but not perfect) assurance that the guys from F.A.C. will do the right thing.  Mad Dog 🐕

I was always wondering if there was any real vetting done before someone could be listed under find a contractor on this site. I.e. submission of photos of steam boiler installation etc... I guess the answer is no. Given the results come up the same whether searching under the main wall or strictly steam was a clue. In a fantasy world it would be really nice if there was some kind of steam specific "find a contractor".

That would be extremely difficult and time consuming for the moderators. I think they do a very good job vetting with the information they have.  Whats to stop a Prospective advertiser from taking a picture of a Great looking boiler they come across on a service call and passing it off as their own handiwork?  Nothing.  In all my years at The Wall (late 90s??), I've never heard of a F.A.C./F.A.P. screw any homeowner over.  Dan Holohan is giving you the privilege and honor of being "associated" with his platinum reputation and stature - his brand.  We all try honor that to the enth degree.  I think the vetting process is just fine. The only thing maybe I  would  suggest is  like a star rating like they do in internet reviews via the customer.  Customer reviews.  Aside from that, testimonials and references they can call WORKS EXTREMELY well for me.   Mad Dog

@tsayles50 , also I believe Corrado P. Mastropaolo, Inc. is @clammy on this board. You can't go wrong with either of these two. I'm not personally familiar with Kenneth F. Ciesla Plumbing, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't use them.

Best bet is to talk to all three.
