Mitsubishi Split AC/Heat Wall Unit

Terrible:

1) Unit was not installed to agreed and expected level. I have pictures and the email setting the expectation agreed upon for the installation. They way they ran the lines looks pathetic in a finished all season room. I can't believe that this is how they operate.

They claimed the lines would not fit behind the wall board between 2x4's, but that is false. I had two of the units installed at work and a different company did install the lines between 2x4's and behind the wall board so they are not even being honest. I actually had the walls opened up to make it easy for them in which I had to cover it back up while they installed the condenser because they refused to even try it.

2) Installer damaged Valve on Condenser and Split Copper line in 2 places during installation. Another installer had to come out days later to complete install and make repairs. I requested a new unit and new copper line to replace what they damaged, but they refuse and chose to repair and warrant the repair. Not what I wanted or would be expected with a brand new unit purchased. If they damaged it they should have replaced it with a new one.

3) Unit was sold and advertised to run quietly, but when temperatures are colder, the external condenser runs loudly, and the internal unit blows loudly, and makes a gurgling and whistling noise when it turns on.

They came out with a rep and state that it operates normal and the noise is caused by the condensation. They deflect the problem to an excuse that it references the gurgling noise (Whish is in the fine print and not disclosed beforehand) in the operations manual that was not given until it was emailed to me when I was addressing the problem which is now their response to the problem, and they won't do anything further on it.

Based upon the responses I have gotten I would not use or recommend Climatech nor the Mitsubishi unit to anyone. I am also exploring legal options if any to force a proper resolution. Telling me to live with the noise and operation as is because of a fine print explanation in an operations manual is a pathetic way of doing business.

I noticed others posting the same issue with the split units. I am wondering if there is interest in enough consumers to start a class action law suit for unit refunds? Obviously, Mitsubishi is advertising the units as quiet, but when it gets below 40 degrees the units are not quiet.

email me interest and thoughts. dferchak@comcast.net.

I'm sorry but it's not Mitsubishi's product, it's the installing contractor.

Was the system pressure tested and evacuated as per the manual?

Was the minimum and maximum line set guidelines followed?

    Additional refrigerant weighed in?

Find a different contractor to review all the install procedures and advise.

We don't install units that require those small pumps, we find a different location.

Thousands of units and very quiet operation. Mitsubishi leads the mini split industry.

Ditto what pecmsg said, mine is very quiet and makes very little noise. My son works for a large commercial HVAC/R Co. and is service mgr. and estimator they sell and install lots of Mitsubishi and zero warranty claims. That is why I purchased one and installed even as I am retired.
The issues you are seeing here is from guys off the street with Zero experience doing their own installs.

I agree, the problem is with the install / installer. I have a Mitsubishi unit in my 1100 sq. ft. shop, used for A/C only (heat is radiant in floor) and it is extremely quiet, efficient and reliable.

Was this, by any chance, the cheapest bid?

    @ratio dang...  :smile:
OP your complaints truly are with the installing contractor. When done correctly Mitsubishi is the Cadillac of heat pumps.
Might try getting the Better business bureau involved to get the contractor to settle with you. It sounds like the job need completely redesigned and re installed. Look on Mitsubishi’s website for a Diamond contractor or on this site’s “Find a Contractor “ tab. Good luck

Super bummer, so if the contractor told you about the noises in the beginning, you would be less mad or the same mad? Sounds like the contractor doesn’t know how to communicate the details, which is a portion of the art of being a contractor.
