    A monument to wretched excess.

I'm always amazed at how much we spend on sports, when teachers, firefighters, police and others in far-more-essential occupations are barely scraping by. Something to think about, eh?

This is really nothing new. The Germans did this in the 1930s for the Olympic Stadium in Berlin, the majority of which is under ground.

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?

I live 65 miles southeast of the building and, in addition to having no interest in "events" that take place there, wouldn't be caught in it. I'm not looking forward to whenever the San Andreas or Newport-Inglewood faults lets go, but at least I'll be in a wood frame structure designed for seismic resistance, not underneath a whole lot of "panels" destined to crash down on the occupants. :)
