Let's Help A Friend Rebuild After the Marshall Fire

As you may have seen in this post, our friend @Radman lost his home and everything in it during the Marshall Fire in Colorado on December 30. His niece set up a GoFundMe for him and his family to help them rebuild.

Every little bit helps. Thank you!

Thank you all my friends! It is so awesome to be a tradesperson and associate with such a cool group of people. After 3 days at AHR I am returning to the long (and somewhat ambiguous) rebuilding process. There are many challenges, much stemming from a Planned Unit Development with tiny setbacks and 171 holes filled with debris…. Foundations will all need to be demolished, all utilities underground, and as little as 10’ between structure lines. But, if participating with 171 homeowners with 171 sets of opinions on how “everyone” should rebuild doesn’t kill me I am pretty sure in about 2 years I will be back in my home. 😁
I was literally just about to start a remodel including RFH in the basement and hydro-air for the main house. Plus side? I didn’t buy equipment yet, and now I don’t have to clean out the basement!Once I have some plans and direction (all up in the air for everyone at this time) I will solicit the wall for more opinions on what to put back for comfort systems. (Of course I have some ideas…)Things I can’t wait to crack Pandora’s box on:
Pex vs. Copper
Panel Rads vs. RFH
Ductless cooling vs Central
Boiler selections
Design strategy
ProPress vs. Solder (put that in to see if you were paying attention)
Solar Thermal vs. PV (here we go)
Will Mark Eatherton ever retire?
Is HeatBoy really retired?
And more…
All kidding aside, it’s good to be engaging again and I intend to continue. Major love to all of you, I am extremely grateful! There was an error rendering this rich post.

Sorry for your loss. The risk of fire is one of those things... That can keep you up at night.
On the solar thermal vs PV argument... Why not have your cake and eat it too. I read a few months back that there is at least one company developing solar panels that do both. And considering the PV panels lose a considerable % of efficiency as they heat up it is a win, win, win for you.
