Not all are overseas IMO.Single pipe quasi-vapor system. Typical operating pressure 0.14 - 0.43 oz. EcoSteam ES-20 Advanced Control for Residential Steam boilers. Rectorseal Steamaster water treatment3 -
A modern oil burner, properly tuned, using ULSD Bio, burns cleaner than natural gas and is less harmful to the environment. Properly handling/storing the fuel, and double filtration means you don't need to change the filters/strainer/nozzle every year in a modern oil burning appliance.Jersey2 said:..But the nice thing about NG is it burns cleaner than heating oil. An oil burner needs to have the oil filter and nozzle changed every year, and a good vacuuming every other year. It makes more soot. It is like a diesel truck vs gasoline truck.
I change mine 2-3 years and only vacuum it if it's needed. Last time I went 4 years.
Doesn't make soot if properly tuned, or makes a negligible amount.
Efficiency numbers for modern oil are in the high 80's low 90's.
Any modern gas appliance also requires maintenance.

NG is most certainly cheaper than oil over the past 10 years. Significantly. For a few years the price difference was big enough to make you puke. Over the past few years the gap as shrunk. All it takes is the slightest instability in the Middle East and the price of oil will out pace the price of natural gas.We used to export more natural gas than we import. Not any more, sorry.
Please see https://www.eia.gov/energyexplained/natural-gas/imports-and-exports.php
US natural gas exports has dramatically increased in the last few years (last 5 years!). American consumers will no longer be insulated from prices in the global methane market in the future. Especially as many countries are turning to natural gas power plants as a quick & easy way to reduce carbon emissions and meet climate goals.0 -

NORA has published this, from their website (many times). Nora's problem is poor marketing. They used to run ads in print and on the radio.Hot_water_fan said:A modern oil burner, properly tuned, using ULSD Bio, burns cleaner than natural gas and is less harmful to the environment.@STEVEusaPA interesting, can you share your evidence?
